24 million luggage is lost each year. Often because the luggage tag has been worned out. When BagID was founded in Ålesund back in 2015 it was to solve this issue and make travelling less stressful. 

With a high-tech luggage tag we said goodbye to bag tags on paper and hello to the 21st century. Our digital tag doesn’t only ensure 100% readability throughout the journey, it tracks down lost stuff all over the world. 

The concept and technology have received a great deal of attention, and we are proud to be partners with national aviation authorities and international transport companies.

Since the beginning, we have received support and funding from national and regional development agencies with a focus on innovation. We have received several awards and recognition for, among other things, "Best Concept" from Iventas AS, one of Norway's most renowned companies for design and innovation.

With the launch of BagID 2 in 2021 we invite all travellers to be a part of the innovation. It doesn’t matter if you travel by train, car or if you’re just on the go. The new design allows you to attach BagID to your backpack, horse or whatever – it traces everything. If you lose something, you can find its exact position on the map in Apple Find My.

Where do I drop off my baggage at the airport?

Your baggage can be taken straight to Bag Drop! This is usually clearly visible at all airports and is often the first thing you see upon arrival. If you cannot locate the Bag Drop area, contact the information desk at the airport.

How do I check in my luggage?

When you’ve added your travel itinerary into the BagID app and have transferred baggage information to your bagID GO, your luggage is ready to be checked in. You can then take your baggage straight to Bag Drop.The baggage drop process can vary between airlines. Follow the instructions from your airline’s baggage and check in areas.

How do I weigh my luggage?

Your luggage is automatically weighed on the carousel at bag drop, before it is accepted and moved into the plane’s cargo hold.If your baggage is too heavy, you will be asked to contact airline personnel for assistance.

Is the “PRIORITY” label visible on my bagID GO?

Should you have “PRIORITY” status, this will be visible on your bagID GO.

What do I do if the airport does not have a self-service bag drop area?

If you arrive at an airport without self-service check-in and bag drop, you will need to drop your baggage off as usual at a check in counter.

Do I need a subscription?

Some services in the BagID app are subject to a "Plus" subscription. These services will be launched during 2022, but for the moment all services are included. For more information about the subscriptions, see the entire product page here.

Is BagID 2 a digital bag tag?

Yes, it is, but it is so much more. You can track whatever you feel like with BagID 2 and see where your things are at any time in the app.

Does the battery on BagID 2 last longer?

Yes it does. We know how annoying it is to charge, therefore the battery in BagID 2 lasts for 2 years in tracking mode. The battery can be charged with a standard USB-C cable.

Which temperatures can BagID withstand?

BagID 2 tracks everything if it is between -4 degrees to +60 degrees.

System requirements and compatibility

Tracking and Apple Find My works with iPhone and iPod touch using iOS 14.5 or later. It also works with iPad using iPadOS 14.5 or later.

Everything else works on iOS 12 or later, and Android 9 or later.
